50mm f/1.4

today, i called the post office and, you won't believe it, my lens was there from wednesday.
i went to pick it up.
apparently, a postman who was responsible for delivery was new and didn't know where to deliver it. the other one, who worked the next day, forgot about it.
i was really excited the whole week, and really upset yesterday, because the lens was still not where it should be - with me.
so i was not so over the moon when i got it, but still, the lens completely fascinated me.

i'm really glad i also ordered a filter, cause if i wouldn't, i also wouldn't be able to shoot at such small aperature.
everything is too bright at f/1.4 if you're shooting at daylight, in the sun.

but i'm really happy with it. it's quiet, makes great bokeh (blur), it performs excellent in low light and it's overall a very good lens.

and i also took plenty of photos not so long ago, so here i go:

from here forward, i shot in Av mode and i had the aperature fully open at 1.4 all the time.

water in a cask

the colors are genuine and it even surprises me, because the photo looks retouched

a comparison:
f/1.4

f/5

f.10

as you can see, the photo is not as sharp and it's too bright at f/1.4,
but the background is wickedly blurry

the colors are awesome

in case of confusion; it's a curtain, shot from below

and another comparison:
f/1.4

f/1.4

f/2.8

so, this photo was taken in really low light. i darkened the room as much as possible, and believe me, it was really dark. i even shot inside the closet, so it was even darker. i shot at f/1.4 of course, and the shutter speed was 1/20 here

and 1/5 here, though it's a bit shaky

and a random one - while i was recording (the video on the top)

it's surely an awesome chunk of glass.

i'm going for a walk with my dog and this new canon baby now and i probably won't be back for a loooong time.
